Armani children's clothing recalled
Web posted on April 30, 2012
Health Canada has issued a recall on Armani Junior Garments that have Crystal Ornamentation. The affected garment models include:
R1H53 R3J12 R8M04 R8M14 R8M16 RE331 RE361 RE401 REA30 REA63 REA66 REA85 RED46 REH84 REP31
The crystal ornamentation on the recalled garments contains lead in excess of the allowable limit. Under the Children's Jewellery Regulations of the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, it is illegal to import, advertise or sell jewellery items that appeal primarily to children under 15 years of age and contain more than 600mg/kg total lead.
Lead is very toxic to children, even at low exposure levels. Children can ingest lead when they chew, suck, or swallow jewellery items containing lead which can cause damage to their bodies. Potential health effects associated with exposure to high levels of lead include vomiting, diarrhea, convulsions, coma or even death.
Neither Health Canada nor Giorgio Armani Corp. has received any reports of incidents or illnesses related to the use of this product.
Approximately 182 units of the recalled garments were distributed in Canada between December 2011 and February 2012.

Consumers should stop using the affected garment and return it to the retail store it was purchased from for a refund of the purchased price.
