(MUNICIPALITY OF WEST PERTH, ON) On Wednesday October 10, 2012, Perth County OPP officers were dispatched to six homes in the east end of Mitchell where homeowners had discovered vehicles and garages entered. The homeowners reside on Jordan Cres, and on Waterloo St., east of Arthur St.

Investigation revealed that sometime before 1 a.m. on Wednesday October 10, 2012, unknown person(s) walked around the Jordan and Waterloo St. areas checking for unlocked vehicles and unlocked garages. A remote garage door opener was located in an unlocked vehicle parked on a driveway. The remote was used to open the home's garage door.

The garage was rummaged through, but nothing appeared to be missing. Another resident reported entry to the garage by means of the unlocked man-door. $250 cash was removed from a purse that was left on the front seat of the unlocked car parked inside the garage. Other vehicles had packs of cigarettes and small change removed from inside.

On Thursday October 11, 2012 at 7:30 a.m. a homeowner reported the theft of a wallet and Ipod from his unlocked vehicle as it was parked at his residence along Quebec St. in Mitchell.
