Industrial Accident
On Wednesday October 17, 2012 at 2:10 p.m., an industrial accident occurred on Douglas Street
in the city of Guelph. Guelph Police, Fire and Guelph Wellington EMS responded to the incident and found a 48-year-old Toronto man trapped inside his vehicle. Investigation revealed that a load of ceramic tiles that were being hoisted by a crane above his van slid off the load and fell four floors crushing the roof of the van and trapping him inside.
Guelph Firefighters extricated the male from his vehicle, and he was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. He is listed in stable condition at this time.
The scene and subsequent investigation have been turned over to the Ministry of Labour.

Impaired Driver – Arrest
On Wednesday October 17, 2012 at 7:33 p.m., a concerned citizen called the Guelph Police to
report a possible impaired driver travelling westbound on Stone Road, Guelph. The responsible
vehicle was located, and the driver was given the demand for the approved screening device.
Paul SLOOPKA 60 years of Guelph was charged with Drive Over 80 and will appear in
court in November.
