Recall - Dollarama Water Balloon Pumps

This recall involves Water Balloon Pumps sold at Dollarama. This toy made of plastic consists of a colored reservoir (blue, red or green) with an attached manual pump, a handle and a nozzle for filling balloons with water.

The product was sold with 150 balloons included. The product is intended for children 8 years and older and can be identified by item #14-3043438 and UPC 6 67888 22014 4.

When the reservoir is filled with water and the pump activated, if the toy is dropped, the pump/handle/nozzle assembly can break and project sharp plastic pieces posing a laceration hazard.

Consumers should immediately take the recalled water balloon pumps away from children and either dispose of them or return to the store to obtain a refund (no receipt required).

Health Canada has not received any reports of consumer incidents or injuries related to the use of these products. Dollarama has received two reports of a pump bursting and causing injuries.

The recalled water balloon pumps were sold from March 2015 to June 2016. Approximately 66,458 of the recalled water balloon pumps were sold at Dollarama stores across Canada.

The affected product was manufactured in China by Assisting Trading (HK), Yin Zhou District, Ningbo, china and distributed through Dollarama L.P/S.E.C., Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
