Web posted on November 13, 2017

Guelph, November 13, 2017: On November 17, the Guelph Chamber of Commerce will kick off this years `Inspirational Women' luncheon series with Jennifer Green, a trailblazer and active advocate for women in the skilled trades and technologies. Interviewed by Leanne Wood-Hulme from the CJOY Newsroom, this event will feature a thought-provoking conversation about Jennifer's inspirational trailblazing path to influence, leadership, and community building.

"The Inspirational Women luncheon is an integral and proven component of the Guelph Chamber's efforts to showcase and help build leadership among women across Guelph through inspiring stories that cultivate success," says Kithio Mwanzia, President & CEO of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce. "Hosting Jennifer Green, in partnership with Bensol, offers a fantastic opportunity for our community to hear how the skilled trades are transforming communities, businesses and lives."

Jennifer is a stellar advocate for the promotion and advancement of the trades and women in the skilled trades and technologies. A graduate of Conestoga College, an Industrial Millwright by Trade, and current Maintenance Planner/Scheduler for the Upper Grand District School Board, Jennifer has established herself as a sought-after mentor, leader, and speaker. This has led her to various honours and awards, including the YMCA-YWCA Women of Distinction Award in 2013, and the Conestoga College Alumni of Distinction Award in the same year.

Jennifer has been involved with Skills Ontario since 2005, through numerous volunteer events, mentoring, and speaking engagements, as well as becoming the first President of the Skills Ontario Alumni Association in 2016. Jennifer also competed in the Industrial Mechanical Millwright contest in 2008, placing gold at provincials, and silver at the national level.

"Jennifer's experience being a trailblazer and advocate for women in the skilled trades demonstrates the value of perseverance in pursuit of achievement," adds Mwanzia. "We're hoping that Jennifer's spirit of out-of-the-box thinking and community building will inspire our business community to reach higher and further."

The `Inspirational Women' luncheon takes place November 17, 2017 at Delta Guelph Hotel & Conference Centre, from 11:30am to 1:30pm. For registration information:
