OPP Charge Stunt Driver - Nov. 29, 2017

Web posted on November 29, 2017

(PERTH COUNTY, ON.) -Driving the speed limit does not make you late for work; leaving the house late, does.

A member of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a motor vehicle travelling almost double the posted speed limit in the Township of Perth South early this morning.

Thirty-five-year-old Seyedjavad JABERIFARD of London was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle-Excessive Speed, contrary to section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act. A driver's licence suspension for 7 days followed, as well as a 7 day vehicle impoundment.

Every kilometre travelled over the posted speed limit affects a motor vehicle's ability to stop safely. Drivers must constantly be scanning the roadway and surrounding area for other vehicles, pedestrians, animals and changing weather conditions. Clear, dry roads are not a justification for stunt driving. Plan ahead to arrive safely, and on time.

Erratic or dangerous driving should always be reported. Call 9-1-1 in the event of an emergency, or call 1-888-310-1122. The Perth County OPP thanks the observant members of the public who take the time to call police. Our roadways are safer when we work together.
