Balsam fir hacked, stolen from Arboretum

University of Guelph's arboretum staff are asking for public aid in finding whoever hacked up, then stole a poetion of the six-metre high Balsam tree, CBC reports.

The tree, planted in 1995, was chopped down on the weekend. It is believed that someone harvested the tree for Christmas,

A stump of about three feet remained in the ground. The perpetrator then cut the top section leaving the mid-trunk section in an arboretum garden. The top section remains missing
