Foot Pursuit Arrest

On December 31, 2019, at approximately 11:50am, Guelph police were called to a grocery store in the west end of the city, where there was a report of a shoplifter. Investigation revealed there were actually two shoplifters that appeared to be working together. When the two males were approached, one male fled on foot. Police pursued on foot and were able to apprehend the individual.

As a result of the investigation, a 55 year old male and a 42 year old male, both from Guelph, were arrested and charged with theft and possession of stolen property. They are alleged to have stolen beer and meat. All items were recovered.

Break and Enter - Arrest

On December 31, 2019 at approximately 6:40pm, Guelph police were contacted by a citizen who wasn't home and was watching someone in their house through an online security camera. Police attended to the Westwood Road address immediately and were able to apprehend an individual. A 14 year old Guelph female was arrested and charged with break and enter and mischief under $5000. Investigation revealed that the accused and the homeowner are known to each other.

R.I.D.E.

Guelph police conducted R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checks throughout the city last night. Approximately 600 cars were checked resulting in one 3-day suspension and two impaired driving charges.

At 2:20am, a 30 year old Guelph female drove through the R.I.D.E. check and was spoken to. The female was given a roadside breath test, which she failed. The female was arrested for impaired driving BAC 80 or above.

At approximately 2:27am, a 46 year old Guelph male drove through the R.I.D.E. check and was spoken to. The male was given a roadside breath test and failed. The male was arrested for impaired driving BAC 80 or above.
