OPP INVESTIGATE WORKPLACE SEX ASSAULT

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) - On February 3, 2020, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred at a group home on First Line in the Town of Erin. It was reported that a female employee was sexually assaulted on two separate occasions by a co-worker in the fall of 2019.

As a result of the investigation, Robert Doug ROOT, 51-years-old of Guelph, was charged with two counts of Sexual Assault and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on March 13, 2020.

CAR STOLEN FROM DRIVEWAY IN MITCHELL

(WEST PERTH, ON) - Sometime overnight on February 5, 2020, a 2007 green Dodge Nitro was stolen from an address on St. David Street in Mitchell.

Police were called to the residence this morning, when the homeowner discovered their vehicle was no longer parked in their driveway.

The OPP are reminding vehicle owners to lock their vehicle doors and remove any valuables from the vehicle when it's not in use.

FUEL THEFTS AT PERTH EAST FARM

(PERTH EAST, ON) - Police responded to a theft of fuel complaint after a farmer reported that gas was stolen from the fuel tanks on his farm on two occasions.

The theft occurred on Line 80 in the area of Road 140 in Perth East. The incidents occurred overnight on February 2nd and 3rd. The amount of gas stolen was not determined.

Police remind residents to lock their vehicles and take their keys with them when the vehicle is not in use. Motion-detecting security video cameras can also be an effective tool in fighting thefts and other property crimes.

RACER CHARGED

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) - On February 19, 2020, at approximately 12:00 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic on the Hanlon Express Way in the City of Guelph. The officer observed a silver sedan travelling above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 165 km/h.


As a result, a 17-year-old from Waterdown has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on May 6, 2020. The defendant's vehicle and driver's licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute. 

DRUG SEARCH WARRANT EXECUTED, GEORGIAN BLUFFS

Joint investigation, Owen Sound PS and OPP

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) - On February 20, 2020, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) Grey Bruce, Owen Sound Police Service (OSPS), OPP CSCU Huron-Perth and the West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a property at Grey Road 1, Georgian Bluffs, Grey County. 

The executed Warrant is part of an ongoing methamphetamine and Fentanyl trafficking investigation being jointly conducted by members of the OPP CSCU Grey Bruce and members of the OSPS Drugs & Intelligence Unit.

As a result of the execution of the search warrant, police seized cocaine, methamphetamine, fentanyl, Psilocybin, GHB (Gamma Hydroxybutyrate) and Percocet Pills. The combined estimated street value of the seized Controlled Substances is $3,711.00.

Police also seized offence related property that consisted of $3,450.00 in Canadian Currency and drug trafficking and production material.

33 year old, Dustin STURGEON from Georgian Bluffs was charged with the following:


  • Possession of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, section 5(2)CDSA
  • Possession of GHB for the purpose of trafficking, section 5(2)CDSA
  • Possession of Methamphetamine, section 4(1)CDSA
  • Possession of Fentanyl, section 4(1)CDSA  
  • Possession of Psilocybin, section 4(1)CDSA
  • Possess official documents relating to another person, section 56.1(1) CC


24 year old, Wade STURGEON from Georgian Bluffs was charged with the following:


  • Possession of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, section 5(2) CDSA
  • Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, section 5(2) CDSA
  • Possession of Fentanyl, section 4(1) CDSA
  • Possession of Psilocybin,section 4(1) CDSA
  • Breach of Probation, section 733.1(1) Criminal Code of Canada (CC) 

 

22 year old, Maria MOULTON from Kitchener was charged with the following:


  •  Possession of Cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, section 5(2)CDSA
  • Possession of GHB for the purpose of trafficking, section 5(2)CDSA
  • Possession of Methamphetamine, section 4(1)CDSA
  • Possession of Fentanyl, section 4(1)CDSA  
  • Possession of Psilocybin, section 4(1)CDSA
  • Possess official documents relating to another person, section 56.1(1) CC
