Train derails

Web posted on October 22, 2003

A Goderich-Exeter train derailed a flatcar carrying a transformer at London and Edinburgh Roads at around 11 a.m. today.

Traffic was blocked for most of the day as crews worked to get the car back on the tracks. One of the railway workmen indicated that the job had gone as smoothly as expected considering the transformer weighed about 750,000 pounds. No one was injured in the mishap, but considerable damage was done to the track.
