Train hits car

A slow-moving Ontario Southland Railway train hit a car just before 1 p.m. today (Friday) at the crossing on Eramosa Road.

According to Sgt Ron Lord of the Guelph Police, no one was injured.

A 25 year old Guelph male was westbound on Eramosa Rd, passed several cars that were stopped at a level railway crossing, before being struck in the rear of the car by the train. The train recieved minor damage. There was extensive damage to the car. Highway Traffic Act charge is pending against the 25 year old Guelph male.

Eramosa Road was closed for about an hour from Arthur Street to the Woolwich Street intersection, causing traffic to back up on other streets as motorists sought a detour around the accident.
